Mental Wellness & Resilience for Teens

ENSO Society is pleased to welcome Dr. Dzung Vo to Kelowna. Dr. Vo is a pediatrician specializing in adolescent medicine at British Columbia Children’s Hospital, Founder of Mindfulness for Teens, and author of The Mindful Teen: Powerful Skills to Help You Handle Stress One Moment at a Time. Dr. Vo will speak about mental wellness and resilience with a focus on teens and families.

5:00 to 6:30 PM

Attendees will have the opportunity to attend a pre-social and speak to Dr. Vo, enjoy food, and explore a community marketplace. The Mindful Teen will be available for purchase.

6:30 to 8:30 PM

Dr. Vo will speak about mental wellness and resilience with a focus on teens and families. Following his talk, Bill Eager will lead Dr. Vo and a panel of local teens in an open interactive discussion exploring mental wellness from a teen’s perspective. We really want to hear from teens in our community!

Teens are able to attend for free with an adult. Ticket donations of $75 or more are eligible to receive a tax-deductible charity receipt. All donations will support the ENSO Teen Wilderness Expeditions.

Adolescent Pediatrician, VGH, UBC

Dzung X. Vo, MD, FAAP, is a pediatrician specializing in adolescent medicine at British Columbia Children’s Hospital, and clinical assistant professor at the UBC Faculty of Medicine, Vancouver, Canada. His medical practice, teaching, and research emphasize promoting resilience in young people to help them thrive in the face of stress and adversity. He co-developed a mindfulness training program called MARS-A, or Mindful Awareness and Resilience Skills for Adolescents. MARS-A is a developmentally appropriate adaptation of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), for youth with chronic stress, chronic pain, depression, and anxiety. Dr. Vo is the author of The Mindful Teen: Powerful Skills to Help You Handle Stress One Moment at a Time (New Harbinger, 2015).
